Baku Port forecasts cargo transshipment at 8.8 million tons for 2026

Cargo transshipment at the Baku International Sea Trade Port is projected at 8.8 million tons in 2026, Advisor to the Director of the Baku International Sea Trade Port Khudayar Hasanli said at the international conference "The Role of Ports in Regional Connectivity and Strategic Cooperation" held in Baku within the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Report informs.

According to him, the port handled more than 8.2 million tons of cargo last year.

"The forecast for this year is 8.8 million tons. We aim to increase the volume of cargo transshipment. As for container transportation, we handled more than 100,000 TEUs last year. The forecast for this year is 121,000 TEUs," Hasanli said.

The port representative noted that following recent geopolitical events, all traders and logistics companies are choosing a sustainable route - the Middle Corridor: "You can see that the growth rates of freight transportation along this route are colossal."
