A number of AZAL flights on the Baku-Nakhchivan route scheduled for July 6 have been postponed due to thunderstorms, Report informs referring to CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL).
Passengers will be provided with detailed information about possible changes, and flights will resume normal operations once weather conditions stabilize.
The airline noted that weather conditions in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, including strong winds, sudden changes in wind direction, and thunderstorm activity, may affect the safety of takeoffs and landings.
Decisions to delay or cancel flights are made taking into account the actual and forecast weather conditions along the entire route and at the departure and arrival airports, in accordance with international aviation safety standards.
"In aviation, decisions are made based on existing and forecast meteorological conditions along the route and at the departure and arrival airports. For example, thunderstorm activity, strong winds, vertical air currents, heavy precipitation, low visibility, or storm clouds may not be visible from ground level. However, since these meteorological phenomena seriously affect flight safety, the crew and operational services make appropriate decisions in accordance with international aviation safety standards," AZAL noted.
