Baku Metro eyes applying payment method using face recognition

Baku Metro is considering the possibility of implementing a biometric fare payment system in the future - through facial recognition.

As Report informs, this was announced to journalists by the advisor to the chairman of the Baku Metro, Emil Ahmadov.

"So far, this issue is being considered only within the framework of discussions of future plans, technical solutions, as well as studying global experience and the spread of such technologies in our country," he noted.

Currently, payment in the Baku metro is made using plastic cards and QR tickets. However, according to Ahmadov, the expansion of digital solutions has become a necessity. Work is underway to implement contactless payment methods - through bank cards, as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay services.
