Azerbaijan sees surge in international cargo traffic by sea

More than 2.364 million tons of cargo worth over $2.177 billion were transported in Azerbaijan by sea in the first ten months of 2024, Report informs, referring to the country’s State Customs Committee.
Data shows a 12.9% rise in volume and a 45.6% increase in value compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
During this period, sea exports amounted to 74,100 tons, a 5.7% increase year-on-year (YoY). However, the value of the exports dropped by 55.3% YoY, totaling $84.9 million.
On the import side, more than 2.290 million tons of goods were transported by sea, reflecting a 13% increase in volume. The value of these imports surged by 56%, reaching over $2.092 billion.
