Azerbaijan's budget expenditures might be brought up to 40% of GDP

The ongoing economic and geopolitical processes in the world and the persistence of inflation necessitate the allocation of additional funds for social processes, Azerbaijani MP Ali Masimli said at today's plenary meeting of the Milli Majlis, Report informs.

He noted that on the one hand, an increase in economic growth, and on the other hand, an increase in the budget of 40% of GDP instead of the current 30-32% will lead to the allocation of a sufficient amount of funds to finance the liberated territories and solve social problems.

“The funds allocated for education should be reviewed as a contribution to the future. 80% of the funds allocated for education are directed to salaries. It would be good to review regional problems as well. The sewerage systems and gas supply of villages should be completed in the regions. It would be good to increase the allowance of 80 manats ($47) provided to veterans of the Karabakh war."

Ali Masimli stressed that this year it is planned to allocate 2.26 billion manats ($1.32 billion) from the state budget to accelerate the restoration in the territories liberated from occupation:

"In general, taking into account the previously allocated funds, 5.26 billion manats ($3.09 billion) will be sent to this region. This will play a big role in the financial support of the Great Return process."
