Azerbaijan Railways increases passenger traffic by 16% in first five months of 2026

Passenger transportation by Azerbaijan Railways increased by 16.3% in January–May 2026 compared to the same period last year, the company said.

According to Report, citing Azerbaijan Railways, a total of 4,513,747 passengers were transported on domestic routes and the Absheron Ring Railway during the indicated period.

Around 4.3 million passengers used the Absheron Ring line, marking a 16% increase year-on-year, while approximately 240,000 passengers traveled on intercity routes, up 21%.

The company also reported that the number of foreign tourists using rail services exceeded 11,000, representing a 6% increase compared to the previous year.
