Azerbaijan Railways: Cargo handling at Astara terminal up 26%

From January to May 2026, the Astara terminal (in Iran) handled over 346,690 tons of cargo, Report informs referring to Azerbaijan Railways.

This represents a 26% increase compared to the same period last year.

From January to May 2025, the cargo volume at this terminal amounted to 274,618 tons.

Construction work at the Astara terminal is in its final stages, and once fully operational, it will expand regional cargo operations with an annual transshipment volume of 3.5–4 million tons.
