Azerbaijan officially joins Eurasian Spatial Data Infrastructure

Azerbaijan's membership in the Eurasian Spatial Data Infrastructure (ESDI) has been officially approved at an international conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The State Service on Property Issues under Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy told Report that a delegation headed by Deputy Chief of the State Service Huseyn Aliyev took part in the 12th Conference of the ESDI Steering Committee in Bishkek.

The conference focused on digital transformation, geospatial data management and the application of digital mapping technologies.

At the event, titled "National Spatial Data Infrastructures amid Digital Transformation: Intelligent Geospatial Ecosystems and Digital Twins of Territories," Aliyev provided information about the State Service's activities, including state registration of real estate and maintenance of the address register, real estate cadastre, regulation of land relations and Azerbaijan's land resources.

Participants also discussed the experience of member countries, the use of 3D maps and satellite imagery in land management, as well as cross-border data exchange.

Azerbaijan's membership in ESDI was formally approved during the conference. The sides also identified priority areas for future cooperation.

ESDI is an international initiative group aimed at ensuring the integration, standardization and secure exchange of geographic and spatial data among countries in the region.

Its members include South Korea, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
