Azerbaijan hosts forum on cities, global trade and logistics

Azerbaijan has hosted the "From Cities to Global Trade: Export and Logistics Forum" in Baku as part of Urban Planning Week.

Report informs, citing the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, that the forum featured speeches by Deputy Chairman of the Committee Dovlatkhan Dovlatkhanov, Executive Director of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency under the Economy Ministry Orkhan Mammadov, and Runze Wang, representative of the UN-Habitat Azerbaijan Office.

In his speech, Dovlatkhanov said the decision to hold the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku is an indication of international recognition of Azerbaijan's sustainable and human-centered urban planning policy.

He noted that the forum is important in terms of presenting to the international community the country's achievements in urban planning, as well as the reconstruction work and the Great Return process being carried out in the liberated territories.

A panel session held as part of the forum discussed sustainable urban planning, the integration of transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as prospects for the development of Azerbaijani cities as regional economic and transit hubs.
