The 15-minute city and green city approaches are being implemented in all cities in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, Ramil Jahangirov, representative of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, said during an event at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
Jahangirov emphasized the importance of ensuring safe and comfortable living spaces for returnees: "Therefore, all necessary urban planning standards are being applied. At present, nearly all cities have their first residential neighborhoods, schools, and kindergartens either completed or under construction. In the longer term, as new parts of the cities are built, we will see the importance of applying principles such as polycentric planning, the 15-minute city approach, and mobility strategies."
The official added that these efforts are crucial not only for today but also for the future: "All master plans are prepared with a 20-year perspective. From this point, we look two decades ahead. Of course, interventions and adjustments can be made during this period, since master plans are living documents that evolve with the cities. This development model is unique; it is not something we encounter everywhere, every day. That is why this approach to master planning requires special attention."
