Anar Guliyev: WUF13 put housing at center of global urban agenda

The 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku became a truly global platform for dialogue, partnership and collective reflection on the future of cities and communities.

Report informs that Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture and WUF13 National Coordinator, said this at the forum's closing ceremony.

"I would like to emphasize that the true success of any global event is measured not only by its outcomes, but also by the human connections it creates. We are equally grateful to all participants, partners, organizers, interpreters, technical staff, service providers, as well as public, private and civil institutions. It was your collective spirit that gave this forum real meaning and turned dialogue into joint action," Guliyev noted.

According to him, the theme of WUF13 placed housing at the center of the global urban development agenda and reaffirmed that ensuring adequate, affordable, safe and sustainable housing remains one of the most important challenges of our time.

"Discussions during the forum showed that housing is not only a basic human need, but also the foundation of dignity, resilience, social inclusion, economic opportunities and sustainable urban development," he stressed.
