Shusha, Azerbaijan"s cultural capital, is being restored with a strong focus on preserving its historical heritage, developing tourism, and revitalizing cultural life, Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, said at the event titled "Cities at the Center of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation" held within WUF13 in Baku.
Report quotes him as saying Shusha holds a special place in Azerbaijan"s urban heritage.
"The city is designed for a population of 25,000 people and covers around 390 hectares, including tourism and cultural development zones. The development strategy is based on respect for the historical urban structure and the introduction of modern public, business, and residential areas," he said.
The head of the committee noted that key projects include the revival of the historic main street, the development of the Victory Museum, and the construction of modern residential districts integrated into the existing urban landscape.
