Azerbaijan presented a national statement on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda at the UN High-Level Meeting, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said on X, Report informs.
"It was a great honour to address the opening session of the UN General Assembly high-level meeting and deliver Azerbaijan's national statement. The statement outlined five key priorities of Azerbaijan's urban development policy: liveable and accessible environments, modern planning, digitalisation, climate resilience, and future-ready cities," Guliyev wrote.
According to the chairman, it also highlighted an additional principle guiding the reconstruction of Karabakh and East Zangazur - Build Back Better: "For us, this means not only rebuilding infrastructure, but also laying the foundations for lasting peace and a high quality of life."
"These priorities are already being translated into action. Updated master plans have been developed for more than 86% of the country's cities, while the next important milestone is the preparation of Azerbaijan's National Urban Policy in partnership with UNHABITAT," he noted.
