Anar Guliyev: Baku Urbanism Award to be presented at WUF14 in Mexico – Exclusive

The Baku Urban Planning Award, established within the framework of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, will be presented at the next forum in Mexico, stated Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture and national coordinator for WUF13, Report informs.

He noted that a jury of renowned international architects will be formed, with the best urban planning projects-particularly those prioritizing housing provision-evaluated and awarded. "The organization of the forum in Baku is already recognized internationally as a model. UN-Habitat has adopted the concept of Baku Standards, which is reflected in the letter of intent jointly signed by the organization's executive director and me," Guliyev said.

He added that, based on these standards, special guidelines will be prepared for future host countries: "We will work on this document together with UN-Habitat. We have already announced our readiness to provide any support that Mexico may request from us."
