Anar Guliyev: Baku Urban Award to be established in different regions globally

The Baku Urban Award established within the framework of WUF13 will be balanced in its composition among various regions of the world, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said at the presentation ceremony of the Baku Urban Award initiative within the framework of WUF13, Report informs.

According to him, the Baku Urban Award will be evaluated by a recognized, internationally authoritative independent jury of specialists in the fields of architecture, urban planning, housing finance, climatology, and civil society, and will be balanced in its composition among various regions of the world. The full composition will be announced in the near future."

He further noted that various solutions exist for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals:

"They are being developed and applied every day in various cities around the world. The problem is that many of these solutions remain excessively local, are not disseminated, and do not become a source of learning. The Baku Urban Award was created precisely to fill this gap. In our view, this award is designed to bring together three components:

Practice – real solutions already being applied by mayors and professionals;

Knowledge – scientific and analytical documentation explaining why these solutions work;

Policy – the adoption of all this by governments, international institutions, and the global urban agenda."
