Anar Guliyev: Azerbaijani territories among most mine-contaminated regions

The liberated territories of Azerbaijan continue to remain among the most mine-contaminated regions in the world stated Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said at an event within the framework of WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
According to him, more than 900,000 hectares of territory are contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance. "According to estimates, approximately 1.5 million mines have been planted in the territory of the region. Since November 2020, as a result of large-scale demining operations, more than 262,000 hectares of territory have been cleared, and more than 246,000 mines and unexploded ordnance have been neutralized," he said.
Guliyev noted that in parallel with reconstruction work, Azerbaijan has implemented a new management model for post-conflict territories.
