The private sector and governments must unite to solve the housing crisis, Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), told journalists.
Report quotes her as saying the world is currently facing a serious housing crisis, and the coordinated efforts of all parties are required to eliminate this problem: "The main goal of the Forum is to contribute to the development of policies and practical mechanisms at various levels to address existing problems in the housing sector. In different countries, people live in informal settlements, cannot afford to buy or rent a home, and some live on the streets. Within the framework of WUF13, the formulation of concrete approaches to solving these problems is expected."
Rossbach emphasized that solving the housing crisis is not possible solely through the efforts of governments: "We need the private sector, civil society, local government bodies, and strong national policies. Broad cooperation is essential to overcome this crisis."
In conclusion, she thanked the Government of Azerbaijan for organizing the forum.
