Building resilient cities is a strategic necessity for ensuring the security of communities, Bahrain's Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Amna Alrumaihi said at a ministerial roundtable within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, according to Report.
According to her, the concept of resilient cities carries a broader meaning than just housing and environmental challenges: "Cities must be prepared for any emergencies. Therefore, building resilient cities is a strategic necessity for ensuring the security of communities and enhancing their ability to cope with unprecedented events."
She noted that Bahrain reaffirms its commitment to continuing the development of its policies related to housing, urban development, and infrastructure sectors, and to strengthening its international partnerships with the aim of ensuring the existence of more resilient, inclusive cities for future generations.
