The 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku became the largest event dedicated to discussions on urban planning and sustainable development, Peter Tase, American political scientist and Regional Coordinator of the Central Asia Productivity Research Center (CAPRC) in Southeast Wisconsin (USA), told Report.
The expert stressed that WUF13 "was the largest urban forum in history."
He emphasized that extremely important issues in the field of urban planning and sustainable development were discussed in Baku:
"Based on the information covered in the media and the rich program of the forum, participants significantly benefited from the topics and issues discussed during the WUF13. Urban development is a key element in shaping sustainable economic policy, protecting the environment, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Baku presented itself to the international community as a modern and dynamically developing city hosting one of the most important international forums organized jointly with the UN. The Azerbaijani capital properly welcomed numerous government delegations and representatives of international organizations."
According to Tase, the World Urban Forum to be held in Mexico in 2028 will undoubtedly face the high standards set by Baku in terms of organization, logistics, and infrastructure.
"WUF13 was an impressive global platform that clearly demonstrated President Ilham Aliyev's leadership, as well as the effective work and determination of the Azerbaijani government," the expert stressed.
