Ambassador: Israel interested in studying Azerbaijan's experience with Middle Corridor – EXCLUSIVE

Israel is interested in studying Azerbaijan's experience in developing the Middle Corridor, Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ronen Krausz told Report.

"The Middle Corridor is very interesting, including from a business perspective, but primarily in terms of knowledge and experience," the diplomat said.

He noted that Israel is also working on creating its own transport corridor, IMEC (India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor), which is designed to connect India to Europe via Israel.

"I believe that studying Azerbaijan's experience and the best practices it can share regarding the Middle Corridor is very valuable," Krausz emphasized.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, freight volumes along the route show consistent growth: 759,000 tons in 2019, 783,000 tons in 2020, 586,000 tons in 2021, 1.485 million tons in 2022, 2.764 million tons in 2023, and 4.484 million tons in 2024.

Data from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) indicates that in 2025, cargo volume moved along the Middle Corridor reached 4.7 million tons, with an additional 10% increase expected by 2027. By 2027, the operational capacity of the Middle Corridor is projected to reach 10 million tons annually, boosting Azerbaijan's transit potential and attracting further infrastructure investment.

In January–August 2026, cargo volume along the Middle Corridor reached 53,574 TEUs, marking a year-on-year growth of 10.86%.

The 2030 target for freight transportation via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) is set at 11.4 million tons.
