Children suffer not only from diseases, but also from poorly designed urban spaces that limit their development.
Report informs that Ghassan Abdullah Alothman, founder and CEO of Athr Community, said this at the "Azerbaijan: The Pulse of Healthy Homes" event held as part of WUF13 in Baku.
According to him, therapeutic interventions and medicines help, but do not eliminate the negative factors that limit children's development: "Children need an ecosystem that provides an environment for their cognitive, socio-cultural and community development."
He noted that children's illnesses begin because of air quality, heat stress and unsafe streets where children are not allowed to go outside.
"If you break the chains of a restrictive environment and allow children to unlock their creativity, curiosity and critical thinking, you will be surprised," Alothman said.
