Afghanistan plans to adopt Azerbaijan's experience in waste management, water supply - EXCLUSIVE

Afghanistan has expressed its willingness to adopt Azerbaijan's experience in waste management and water supply, Mawlawi Matiul Haq Khalis, head of the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) of Afghanistan, said on the sidelines of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

The head of the National Environmental Protection Agency noted that representatives of Afghanistan and Azerbaijan are very active at WUF13, particularly in discussing economic, political, and environmental issues.

"I have personally participated in similar events and have noted clear connections in their work. Azerbaijan has invested significant resources in developing this sector and has accumulated significant experience in waste management. It is crucial for us to leverage this experience: Afghan companies and municipalities working in this area should build partnerships with them.

Conference participants, including the Azerbaijani side, arrived with specific objectives and are ready to present their findings and presentations," Khalis emphasized.

The representative of Afghanistan also emphasized that his country is not alone in overcoming these challenges.

"There are delegates here from both neighboring and more distant countries. The problems of waste management, water resources, and water shortages require collective efforts. Azerbaijan has already passed this stage and taken the first steps-engagement with the Azerbaijani side will provide us with significant support," Khalis added.
