Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) does not cooperate with any tourism companies on the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku route and does not allocate ticket quotas to intermediaries, said Azer Farajov, Head of ADY's Passenger Transportation Department, Report informs, citing ADY.
Farajov stated that due to high demand, tickets sell out quickly once released. "Passengers have equal access to tickets through ticket offices, the mobile app, and the official website. All sales channels operate on the same system," he noted.
The official emphasized that international routes depend not only on demand but also on infrastructure, border-crossing procedures, train fleet availability, and coordination between the railway administrations of both countries. Work is underway to expand current capacity.
He added that tickets are released simultaneously for all passengers and each ticket is issued under a specific name. "Previously, one person could purchase tickets for up to eight companions and eight children under five without seats. This limit has now been reduced to four companions to ensure fairer access," Farajov explained.
The ADY official also stressed that there is no evidence of mass ticket purchases for resale. If such cases are detected, the company will investigate.
He further pointed out that in situations where multiple passengers attempt to buy the same seat simultaneously, the system awards the ticket to the fastest transaction, while any deducted payments from other cards are refunded.
