AD Ports applauds Azerbaijan's contribution to development of transport infrastructure

Azerbaijan has done serious work for the development of transport infrastructure, Chief Commercial Officer at AD Ports Group of the UAE Friedrich Portner said in the plenary discussions on “Oil Flows: Cross-Logistics and Infrastructure Development in Azerbaijan” on the 2nd day of the Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.

He noted that AD Ports developed a strategy for the Middle Corridor and CIS countries three years ago: “We thought about expanding the Middle Corridor together with our local partners who have different shares. However, it is difficult to maintain competitiveness today, when technology is advancing and large ships are moving from China to Europe. Currently, as Abu Dhabi Port, we are working on a number of projects such as East-West, and North-South. However, the challenges we face once again show that these measures should be taken together with partners who know the region.”

Portner noted that the terminals in the region make transportation somewhat difficult for several reasons: “One of the factors affecting the operation of the transport is the different terminal costs. Also, certain improvements should be made in railway transport. We are still thinking positively. Since the geopolitical situation creates some opportunities.”
