Reza Vaziri: Production in Vejneli gold field temporarily suspended

Due to the recent events in Karabakh, the production at the Vejnali gold field located in Zangilan has been temporarily suspended, Reza Vaziri, CEO of Anglo-Asian Mining Plc, said in his response to the question of Report’s correspondent.

He said that an agreement was signed with the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) before starting the development of the Vejnali field: "ANAMA conducted inspections in the area where we will work, those places were completely cleared of mines. Although these areas are illegally looted, there are enough ore reserves."

Vaziri drew attention to the fact that preparations have been conducted to start production there: "However, as a result of recent events, we have temporarily left Vejnali. We will resume operations when the state of Azerbaijan gives us permission to return."

Note that the Veynali field was discovered in 1959-1962, geological exploration works were carried out in 1962-1971, 1976-1981 and 1983-1984.
