Two Azerbaijani wrestlers win silver at World Championship in Bratislava

Members of Azerbaijan's women's wrestling team Gunay Gurbanova and Ruzanna Mammadova won silver medals at the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.

According to Report, on the sixth day of the competition, medals were awarded in the women's 57 kg, 59 kg and 68 kg categories, as well as in the men's freestyle 61 kg and 86 kg categories.

Gurbanova (57 kg) faced Japan's Konami Ono in the final. Although the first half of the bout went in favor of the Azerbaijani wrestler, she was unable to maintain her lead and lost 16-6, taking the silver medal.

Mammadova (59 kg) also faced a Japanese wrestler in the final. In a closely contested bout against Sae Noguchi, the Azerbaijani athlete lost 3-1 to become the world runner-up.

Jamal Abbasov (61 kg) lost 11-5 to Iran's Anvar Farhad Khateri in the bronze-medal bout.
