New medalists crowned at 3rd CIS Games in Azerbaijan

The swimming competitions at the 3rd CIS Games in Azerbaijan brought fresh victories and a new set of medalists on September 29.

In the women"s 400m freestyle, Russia delivered a strong performance with Valeria Braznichenko clinching gold and her compatriot Anastasia Chernyshova securing silver. Belarusian swimmer Ksenia Mastovich rounded out the podium with bronze. Azerbaijani representatives Anastasia Gnusina and Maryam Javadova finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Russia added another gold in the men"s 100m backstroke, as Dmitry Kravtsov touched the wall first. Belarus celebrated a double podium finish with Mikita Apanasik taking silver and Kirill Banshevich earning bronze.

The 3rd CIS Games continue in Azerbaijan and will run through October 8.
