Madaminov: Kyrgyzstan looking forward to participation of Azerbaijani athletes in Nomad Games

Bishkek is counting on the participation of Azerbaijani athletes in the 6th World Nomad Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, a Report correspondent informs from Cholpon-Ata.

Azerbaijan is one of the constant participants in the World Nomad Games, Askaraly Madaminov, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan and head of the Games headquarters, told Azerbaijani journalists.

"We look forward to Azerbaijan's participation in the 6th World Nomad Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan. Azerbaijan has never missed the Nomad Games. I can also say that the Azerbaijani national wrestling gulesh is included in the mandatory main sports program of the Games," Madaminov said.

Preparations for the main venue of the Games in the Kyrchyn Gorge are nearing completion, the deputy minister noted.

"The main construction work has already been carried out, and the facility is scheduled for completion in early August. We have largely finished all heavy construction; only cosmetic and decorative work remains. Two ethno-villages are being set up on the territory: one for ethno-restaurants serving national cuisine, and the second for artisans and an exhibition of folk crafts," he noted.

Madaminov emphasized that the Kyrchyn Gorge was chosen as the venue for the World Nomad Games back in 2014 during the inaugural Games and has remained their historic site ever since.

"The goal of the World Nomad Games is the revival and promotion of traditional sports that are not included in the Olympic Games program, as well as the preservation of the cultural heritage of the world's peoples," the deputy minister said.

He added that the scale of the project has so impressed foreign experts that some call the Nomad Games an alternative to the Olympic Games.
