Baku Marathon 2023 starts in Azerbaijan's capital

The sixth Baku Marathon has started at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Report informs.

As many as 19,500 people have registered for the event.

Along with Azerbaijani citizens, expats from the US, Germany, the UAE, the UK, China, France, Cameroon, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Russia, Türkiye, Ukraine, Uganda, etc., also expressed their desire to participate in the marathon.

The Baku Marathon, which has been held since 2016, aims to support the development of sports, as well as encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Veterans of the Karabakh War, as well as persons with physical disabilities, take part in the competition.

This year, the first 2,000 runners to cross the finish line will be awarded.

In the men's and women's categories, the winner will be awarded prizes and gifts in the amount of 3,000 AZN ($1,764), 2nd place - 2,000 AZN ($1,176), 3rd place - 1,000 AZN ($588), as well as medals and certificates.
