Baku hosts open rowing and canoeing championship

The open Baku Rowing and Canoeing Championship was held on July 29, jointly organized by the Baku City Youth and Sports Department and the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation, Report informs.

The championship took place on Baku Boulevard, in front of the Water Sports Federation building near the Surakhani ship-museum. About 100 rowers from Baku and Mingachevir competed in the event.

Participants competed over a distance of 500 meters in single boats in rowing and canoeing, and in both single and double boats in kayaking.

In addition, participants competed in a mixed category for the first time.

The winners were awarded diplomas and medals.

The main purpose of such domestic events is to assess athletes' level of preparation and give them stronger competitive experience.
