Azerbaijan, Iran sign action plan on sports cooperation

Azerbaijan and Iran have discussed expanding cooperation in the fields of youth and sports, including exchanges of expertise and reciprocal visits.

The discussions took place in Baku during a meeting between Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov and Iran's Minister of Sports and Youth Ahmad Donyamali, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Youth and Sports said.

Following the meeting, the sides signed a 2026-2028 Action Plan to implement the memorandum of understanding between the youth and sports ministries of Azerbaijan and Iran.

As part of the visit, the Iranian delegation also paid tribute at the grave of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev, visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Victory Monument, and is due to tour several sports facilities in Baku.
