Azerbaijan hosts international wrestling camp under More Than Medals project

An international wrestling training camp has been organized in Azerbaijan to mark the 10th anniversary of the More Than Medals project, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.

Nearly 100 young wrestlers and representatives from 20 countries took part in the event, which was held from August 3 to 8.

The main goal of the project was to support not only the sporting skills of wrestlers, but also their social and personal development, while creating conditions for them to meet peers from different countries, build friendships and spend leisure time together.

The camp was jointly organized by the International Olympic Committee, United World Wrestling and the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation. Its main activities took place at the National Gymnastics Arena and the training base of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.

A joint training process was organized for young wrestlers, and participants improved their skills during various sessions.

As part of the program, specialists from the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency, or AMADA, held an educational anti-doping seminar for the participants. Young athletes were given detailed information about the principles of clean sport, anti-doping rules and athletes' responsibilities.

Participants also took part in a beach wrestling training session by the sea. The guests visited landmarks in Baku and joined various social activities.

The More Than Medals project aims to develop young wrestlers' skills beyond sport and strengthen friendship and mutual understanding among athletes from different cultures.
