Tractor hits mine in Khojavand, driver injured

A tractor hit a mine in the village of Dudukchu in Azerbaijan"s Khojavand district, injuring the driver, according to a joint statement by the press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General"s Office and the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).

Report informs that the incident occurred today, August 21. The tractor, operated by Ramal Giyas oglu Shirinov (born in 1983), a resident of Sumgayit, hit a mine in an area where demining operations have not yet been completed.

The man sustained various injuries in the explosion.

An investigation into the incident is underway at the Khojavand District Prosecutor's Office.

ANAMA, the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General's Office once again urged citizens to follow safety rules, pay attention to mine hazard signs, avoid touching suspicious objects, stay away from unfamiliar areas and refrain from damaging fences around sites where demining operations are underway.
