Over 780 minors brought to criminal responsibility in Azerbaijan in 2025

In 2025, a total of 478 teenagers who had reached the age of 18 and 784 individuals under the age of 18 were brought to criminal responsibility in Azerbaijan, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev said.

According to Report, speaking at the presentation of the research report "Legal Awareness of Adolescents in Azerbaijan" and the book "Children and Law," the head of the supervisory body said the figures are satisfactory in comparison with global statistics.

As an example, Aliyev cited UNICEF data showing that globally, every four minutes a child becomes a victim of violence or murder. He also noted that around 90 million children worldwide were subjected to sexual violence last year, and 1.6 billion experienced physical abuse within the family.

The Prosecutor General also reported that since 2024, Azerbaijani prosecution bodies have filed 37 civil lawsuits in courts seeking deprivation of parental rights. To date, 35 of them have been fully satisfied, while two cases remain under review.
