Landmine explosion kills civilian in Azerbaijan's Khojavand - UPDATED

Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) have released a statement about a landmine incident that has occurred in the Khojavand district, Report informs.

The incident occurred on March 12, 2026, in the territory of the Ashagi Veysalli village of the Khojavend district, which was liberated from occupation.

Hajiyev Ramiz, born in 1968, a resident of the Aghdam district, was killed when he rode a horse onto an anti-tank mine while herding cattle in an uncleared area along the former line of contact, according to the statement.

An investigation is being conducted by the district prosecutor's office in connection with the incident.

ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General's Office once again urge citizens to comply with safety rules, pay close attention to mine danger warning signs, not enter unfamiliar territories, and not interfere with areas where fencing activities are being carried out.

A civilian has died after stepping on a mine in Azerbaijan's Fuzuli.

Report informs that the incident took place in the territory of the Ashagi Veysalli village of the Fuzuli district.

Hajiyev Ramil, born in 1968, a resident of Aghdam district, stepped on an anti-vehicle mine while herding cattle on horseback. Hajiyev died at the scene.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.
