The trial, which continued at the Baku Military Court on June 21, proved that illegal settlements were being carried out in the territories of Azerbaijan that were once occupied by the Armenian armed forces, Report informs.
In response to the prosecutor’s questions, defendant Bako Sahakyan, who was the leader of the illegal regime, stated that mainly Syrian and Lebanese citizens, as well as some citizens from other countries, were brought and settled in the previously occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Sahakyan said that the so-called Ministry of Social Protection of the illegal regime was engaged in these works. “This project was of strategic importance for us. Because the population had decreased sharply after the first war,” he added.
The defendant also stated that the project was not completed.
