Baku to host 67th General Assembly of International Association of Judges

From October 11–17, Baku will become the focus of the international legal community as it hosts the 67th General Assembly of the International Association of Judges (IAJ), Report informs, citing the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.

Founded in 1953, the IAJ brings together judicial associations from 93 countries and is committed to upholding the independence of the judiciary around the world. The association holds its annual meetings only in countries where the rule of law and judicial independence are guaranteed.

Due to growing interest in Azerbaijan and the recent judicial and legal reforms carried out in the country, nearly 300 participants from 71 countries-including judges, representatives of international organizations, and renowned legal experts-are expected to attend the high-level event in Baku this October.

The General Assembly agenda includes elections to the IAJ's governing bodies, discussions on the state of judicial systems in various countries, key challenges and successful practices, as well as familiarization with Azerbaijan"s judiciary as the host nation.

As part of the event, an international conference titled "The relationship between the judiciary and other branches of power" will also be held, offering in-depth analysis of the role of courts in upholding the rule of law.

All information related to the event is available in four languages at www.iaj2025.com.

Notably, the next president of the International Association of Judges will also be elected in Baku during the assembly, further highlighting the event"s global significance and marking a key milestone in the IAJ"s history.

The decision to hold the 2025 General Assembly in Baku was made last year through a secret ballot by IAJ members during their meeting in Cape Town, South Africa.
