Azerbaijani MP condemns mistreatment of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg

The cruel and inhumane treatment inflicted on June 27 by OMON officers in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg against Azerbaijanis has deeply shocked us, Azerbaijani MP Azer Karimli told Report.

According to the MP, this event is not only a gross violation of human rights but also represents an example of ethnic discrimination and cruelty.

The MP underscored that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan immediately and harshly responded to the incident, expressing an official protest to the Russian side. The Russian Chargé d'Affaires in Baku was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where the issue was firmly raised.

"I believe that the relevant structures of the Russian Federation should immediately conduct an investigation and hold accountable those who committed violence. Such acts of cruelty, committed under the guise of law enforcement activities, cannot be justified under any circumstances," emphasized Azer Karimli.
