WCO Secretary-General praises Azerbaijan's customs digital reforms

Ian Saunders, Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), praised Azerbaijan's digital transformation, the introduction of artificial intelligence, and modern technological projects within its customs service.
According to Report, Saunders made these remarks during a briefing at the State Customs Committee (SCC) as part of his first visit to Azerbaijan.
He noted that during the visit, he was presented with digital reforms, modern management mechanisms, and innovative projects implemented in the customs service.
Saunders also familiarized himself with the work of the Target Center and the Customs History Museum, and discussed contemporary approaches and challenges in the customs field with SCC staff.
The WCO Secretary-General highlighted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization has been successfully developing for many years. He emphasized that Azerbaijan actively participates in WCO activities, accredits experts engaged in international support programs, and contributes to the advancement of global customs cooperation.
Saunders further underlined that Azerbaijan provides financial support to the WCO to strengthen the institutional capacity of customs administrations in other countries and shares its experience with the international customs community.
