Vasip Şahin: AI brings legal challenges too

Artificial intelligence (AI) is not only a technological development but also a global challenge encompassing social, cultural, and legal aspects, Vasip Şahin, Chairman of Türkiye's Human Rights and Equality Institution, told journalists in Baku, Report informs.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Baku International Ombudsmen Summit entitled Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks and Responsibilities, Şahin emphasized that the Baku Summit is an important platform for discussing the opportunities and risks posed by artificial intelligence.

"Today, one of the most important issues on the global agenda is artificial intelligence. It is highly significant that this matter is being discussed internationally by human rights institutions," the official said.

He further stated that Türkiye is carrying out serious work on the application and regulation of artificial intelligence: "This is not merely a technical or technological issue. It is also a process that requires the establishment of solid foundations from social, cultural, and especially legal perspectives."
