Oliver Wyman sees major AI opportunities for Azerbaijan's energy sector

Azerbaijan will gain huge prospects for the use of artificial intelligence in the energy sector if the relevant regulatory framework is created and the required capital investment is attracted, Nadim Haddad, partner at Oliver Wyman and global head of its oil and gas practice, said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.

"We are once again raising this topic, which we define as 'energy for artificial intelligence and artificial intelligence for energy.' When considering the concept of energy for artificial intelligence, I believe that the capital investment required to ensure the resilience of the energy system, as well as the availability of gas reserves - all this, together with Azerbaijan's geographical location, creates an exceptional position for the country.

"Thanks to its territorial proximity to the European market, the country is essentially able to transform gas molecules and their transportation into information electrons, thereby monetizing not just gas, but data directly. I am confident that with the formation of an appropriate legal framework and the provision of the necessary flow of investment, large-scale opportunities will open up for Azerbaijan," Haddad said.
