Number of active Starlink satellites exceeds 11,100

The number of active satellites in Starlink, the American orbital constellation operated by SpaceX to provide global internet coverage, has exceeded 11,100, according to data from the project's developer, SpaceX.

According to Report, following the launch of another batch of satellites into orbit last Sunday, the number of active satellites reached 11,133.

Since May 2019, SpaceX has launched more than 12,900 internet satellites as part of the Starlink project. Some of them have malfunctioned or deorbited.

Since the beginning of this year alone, SpaceX has placed around 2,000 Starlink satellites into orbit using 80 Falcon 9 rockets.

In the future, SpaceX plans to expand the orbital constellation to 12,000 active satellites to create a full-scale network capable of providing people around the world with broadband internet access from anywhere on the planet. Total investment in the project is estimated at $10 billion.

The Starlink network currently covers more than 160 countries and territories worldwide, providing high-speed internet to more than 10 million active customers.
