Azerbaijan holds NGO Tech Talks on digitalization and cybersecurity

Azerbaijan's National NGO Forum has held an NGO Tech Talks experience-sharing session focused on the digitalization of civil society institutions and the use of modern technologies.

According to Report, the event brought together heads of civil society organizations, information technology and cybersecurity specialists, as well as media representatives.

Zaur Ibrahimli, a member of the Board of the National NGO Forum and moderator of the event, said innovative solutions, information security and technological tools are playing an increasingly important role in the work of non-governmental organizations.

He noted that the rapid digitalization of public relations and the growing complexity of global challenges require NGOs to move beyond traditional operating models.

According to Ibrahimli, the long-term institutional sustainability of NGOs increasingly depends on the digitalization of internal management processes, data-driven decision-making, effective cybersecurity mechanisms, artificial intelligence tools and flexible project management systems.

Rauf Jabbarov, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Organizations Association (AKTA), delivered the main presentation on practical cybersecurity rules and a cybersecurity checklist for NGOs.

He said limited resources should not be an excuse for neglecting cybersecurity, adding that many serious cyber threats can be prevented through correctly chosen basic measures and digital tools.

Jabbarov also gave practical recommendations on identifying phishing and social engineering attacks, detecting fake links and suspicious attachments, and setting up regular backup systems to prevent data loss during crises.

He said AKTA is ready to continue supporting the digital transformation of civil society and the strengthening of information security.

The session also included an interactive discussion on the use of digital tools, technological innovation in project management and cyber protection.

Participants stressed the importance of continuing cooperation to improve the digital skills of NGOs.
