WHO official: Last week saw record coronavirus rates across the globe

"Last week, the WHO registered about 5 million cases of coronavirus infection, and more than 85 thousand deaths worldwide. These are the highest figures ever reported to the organization," WHO representative in Russia Melita Vujinovich said speaking about the surge in the spread of coronavirus infection across the globe, Report states, citing TASS.
According to her, it is necessary to "accelerate the introduction and ensure fair distribution of vaccines in the coming weeks."
Vujinovic added that vaccination would help put an end to the pandemic but will not solve all the issues.
She recalled that people should still keep social distancing, wash hands, and observe self-isolation.
