If we allow this virus to spread so widely, then 2% of the world's population will die, well-known Russian virologist Konstantin Chumakov said.
The virologist also stressed the possibility that the world will be at the end of the pandemic due to the development of vaccines against COVID-19 and the transformation of the virus into less pathogenic.
The number of coronavirus cases has exceeded 402 million worldwide. Since early 2020, over 5 million people have died from COVID-related health complications.
The United States (over 76 million), India (over 42 million), and Brazil (over 26 million) rank first, second and third, respectively, regarding the total number of registered cases.
