Baku track is fast and challenging, says Aston Martin reserve driver

The Formula 1 track in Baku is one of the most challenging yet fastest on the racing calendar, Aston Martin reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne told journalists.

"Baku is always a special place. I first came here in 2017 while racing for McLaren. Back then, hosting the Grand Prix was a major event for the city. Since then, everything has evolved - the city is now more modern, dynamic, and even luxurious, especially around the track. It's clear the city is developing rapidly and attracting more attention, including from F1 drivers," the Belgian driver said.

According to Vandoorne, the Baku City Circuit features a unique mix of high-speed straights and technically demanding corners.

"It's one of the fastest street circuits. There are zones where you need to brake hard at very high speeds, and that demands extreme precision and confidence from the driver," he noted.

Vandoorne also highlighted the unpredictability and overtaking opportunities that make the Azerbaijan Grand Prix exciting.

"We almost always witness thrilling and action-packed races in Baku. There tends to be more overtaking here than on other street circuits. This weekend promises to be exciting too. The weather is slightly cooler than usual - let's see what surprises the race has in store for us," he added.
