Baku Formula 2 round to feature two qualifying sessions, two feature races

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has approved an expanded weekend format for the Formula 2 event in Baku, featuring two qualifying sessions and two feature races.

The Baku City Circuit Operating Company told Report that the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix had previously been moved from Sunday to Saturday to avoid coinciding with Azerbaijan's Remembrance Day on September 27, with the entire weekend schedule shifted forward by one day.

The 12th round of Formula 2 will now also be adjusted to the change and held under an expanded format.

It will be the only Formula 2 round this season to feature more than one feature race during a single weekend.

As the only support series for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Formula 2 drivers will take part in a 45-minute free practice session on Thursday morning.

This will be followed by two consecutive 20-minute qualifying sessions on Thursday afternoon.

The sprint race and the first feature race will be held on Friday, while the second feature race will take place on Saturday morning before the Formula 1 race.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held on September 24–26.
