Yuriy Husyev thanks President Ilham Aliyev for solidarity and support for Ukraine

Ukraine's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev has thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people for their solidarity with and support for Ukraine.

According to Report, the diplomat made the remarks on social media following a meeting during which he presented the Honorary Citizen of Irpin award to the Azerbaijani head of state.

"Pleased to present the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, with the Honorary Citizen of Irpin award.

A recognition of Ukraine-Azerbaijan strong partnership, solidarity, friendship and Azerbaijan's unwavering support for Irpin. Thank you, Mr. President, and the people of Azerbaijan, for standing with Ukraine.

Husyev emphasized that the decision to confer the title of Honorary Citizen of Irpin on Ilham Aliyev was adopted by the Irpin City Council on April 30, 2026. The decision recognized the personal contribution of the Azerbaijani President and the Azerbaijani people to supporting the Irpin community from the first days of the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as following the city's liberation from occupation.

"Azerbaijan has become one of Irpin's key partners in its reconstruction. With Azerbaijan's support, the Irpin Humanitarian Lyceum 'Linguist' and the Consultative and Diagnostic Clinic have already been restored," Husyev said.

According to the ambassador, new large-scale projects are planned, including housing construction, the restoration of a sports school and the Central House of Culture, as well as the establishment of a modern arts center.

Husyev emphasized that the decision to grant President Ilham Aliyev honorary citizenship of the hero city of Irpin also symbolizes the deep friendship between the Ukrainian and Azerbaijani peoples.
