For Azerbaijan, Africa is not a distant continent, but a space of opportunity and cooperation, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev said at an event marking Africa Day, Report informs.
He noted that over the past year, there has been a positive dynamic in Azerbaijan's relations with this continent.
"Today, Africa is one of the most dynamic and promising regions in the world. Thanks to its young population, rapidly growing economy, abundant natural resources, and growing geopolitical significance, the continent is increasingly shaping the global political and economic agenda. The African Union has already become a full member of the G20. Africa is also seeking two permanent seats on the UN Security Council, and Azerbaijan fully supports this initiative. For Azerbaijan, Africa is not a distant continent. It is a continent of partners, friends, and shared aspirations," Rafiyev said.
According to him, the region's relations with Azerbaijan are built on mutual respect, solidarity, and support for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
