Digital technologies are considered one of the most effective tools in urbanization, but their potential for urban development is not yet fully utilized, Leila Guici, Senior Advocacy Manager - ClimateTech and Digital Utilities at the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association), said during the closing session of the assemblies held at WUF13 in Baku, Report informs.
"Several panelists identified digital technologies as an effective tool, but perhaps their potential is not yet widely understood in the sector," she said.
According to Guici, the business assembly discussed the application of digital solutions at all stages of housing construction-from the development of building materials to access to energy, water, and waste management systems.
She noted that one of the key topics of discussion was the interaction between the public and private sectors.
According to the GSMA representative, panelists repeatedly emphasized the need for more active business engagement in the development of affordable and sustainable housing solutions.
"Many necessary solutions already exist, but the global community needs to learn to use existing tools more effectively and strengthen collaboration between all stakeholders in the housing sector," Guici emphasized.
